Hello,
In version 2015 I created a part "2015.ipt" from steel "S235JR (1.0038)" with density 7,850 g/cm³. I used a user-defined material library "vasMaterial2015.adsklib".

When I open this part in version 2017 with the current user-defined material library "vasMaterial2017.adsklib", I see in iProperties the right material, but his density is only 1,00 g/cm³.

This material is in both material libraries identical defined.

Where can be a problem?

Best regards,

Milan.

Hello,

It seems that everything is ok with your library. I have loaded in materials and S235JR changed it's density to 7.850 g/cm³.

If you have already loaded: remove library (right click > remove), then save part and close all Inventor instances. Start Inventor > open part > load library and check density of the material.

I dunno what workflow you went through but Inventor doesn't reference the library after you've used the material in the part. It doesn't matter what the density is for the material in your library or which version of Inventor you're using.

Once you've used the material, Inventor stores that material in the part and you can then change the density to be whatever you want, and it doesn't automatically sync that up to your adsklib library.

I can't clarify how it got to be 1,00 g/cm3 but after you used the material, it disconnects from the library. If you want to just quickly fix it, click the manage tab and then in the styles area click Update and say yes to the material sync.

Hello Neil,

the material synchronization run automatically, when the part is opened? When I use in version 2015 the material library from version 2017, the density in part is OK.

Best regards,

Milan.
