Hi Luigi,

I think you are looking for a way to change model reference to a drawing, right? What you can do is to save the drawing file to a different drawing file. Then open the newly copied drawing -> Manage -> Change Model Reference -> select a symmetric assembly (or part). It has to be part A to replace with part B and assembly A to replace with assembly B. You cannot replace assembly A with part B.

With that said, some, if not all, of the dimensions and annotations will be sick after the model reference is replaced. You can manually reattach the annotation to the proper geometry. This is because the symmetric part is a completely different part carrying a different document ID, although it is topologically similar to the original part. The annotation anchor points in the new part will have to be redefined.

Many thanks!

I have several symmetric parts and assemblies. I have completely quoted a drawing and now I want to attach the drawing to a new symmetric owner. How can I do? After the operation I'd like to make only a few cosmetic setup.

Thanks in advance for every help.

Bye

Luigi

Hi Mark, sorry for my inexperience. I'm using Inventor 2017 Professional. I want to create a new design starting from a fully quoted one by attaching it to a symmetrical part or assembly.

Thanks.
