I think you just need to install the driver on the remote desktop as well. Otherwise it won't translate input properly

I'm trying to use a SpaceNavigator with Inventor 2015, but the 3DxInventor add-in is not showing in the available add-ins list.

I initially installed the 3D mouse driver (3DxWare 10 for Windows (64-bit) - Version 10.4.10) with Inventor open and then I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling with Inventor closed but still no success.

Should the add-in not be installed automatically with the driver?

Thanks,

Did you try rightclick in the add-in manager and press "Show hidden members" ?

I see my addin file should be placed

"C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\3DxInventor64\AddIn64.dll"

Does a similar file exist for you?

@YannickEnrico Thanks that worked

Now I know its not the reason for my problem! as the add-in is installed and loaded.

When I open the 3Dconnexion Properties its telling me 'No Application Selected'

I'm accessing the workstation via a remote desktop connection, and I see the the SpaceNavigator is not appearing under Devices and Printers on the remote desktop. It does appear on my local desktop.

I understand this is no longer the same issue that I originally asked but I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but the 3Dmouse will NOT work over a simple RDP connection.

If you want to stick by RDP (with its advantages and disadvantages) you will need to pair this with something that can do "USB over LAN".

Some commercial solutions offer you more, as you will never have multimonitor or GPU acceleration on RDP. There are a few possible solution on the market, as for example HP ZCentral (now once again rebranded into "Teradici CAS" just to confuse people) or something like Citrix Workspace.

If you want to see a 7min hands on video just search for "HP RGS - ZCentral Remote Boost - 5 min hands on" in youtube. It will give you an idea of what we are talking about.
