Helix Pattern on Assembly

Hi,

Sorry if this question is already answer in some post, but i search and i didn't find anything.

I want to create a Helicoidal Winding and then i want to put 16 pieces around the top face of helicoidal winding. The idea is that the piece and the winding should be together, like we make a "mate" between the face of the piece and the top face of the winding.

I attach some photos so you can see.

Use a curve driven pattern of workpoints on the helical face and then pattern component.

Attach your assembly here if you can't figure it out.

I do not have an rar extractor - I prefer to keep my Inventor machine squeaky clean.

Hi! Like JD shown in the video, this can be done by feature pattern based component pattern. Please take a look at the video carefully. That is the exact workflow to use. Basically, you need to create a workpoint at the bottom of the Helicoidal part. Then use Rectangular Pattern command to pattern the workpoint; the direction should be one of the helical edge at the bottom. After that, go back to the assembly. Use Component Pattern command and select Calço de Enfiar. In the first tab -> click on Feature Pattern Select button -> pick the workpoint pattern from Helicoidal. You will get the component pattern following the feature pattern.

But my idea its to do that in a IAM file and with a pattern where i can change the number of itens and the distance between the first piece and the last piece.

Can someone of you do that in my files please?

The idea is not to have a workpoint in another feature but in work plan ou a axis.

While you wait for someone to present the solution - I recommend that you install the Updates for you version of Inventor.

There is an open-source zip tool called 7zip. It is very capable. It can read almost all well-known compressed file formats like rar, zip, and so on. We use it quite extensively.

Hi! What I did was pretty straight forward. Basically, you need a pattern on workpoints following an edge. In your case, the span of the component pattern does not run all the way along the helical path. There is an offset at the start and end. I create a zero-offset surface on the inner face. Trim the surface so that it accommodates the offsets I mentioned earlier. Next create a workpoint. on a vertex. Then pattern the workpoint along the surface edge. That is pretty much all you need to do within the part. Return to the top and pattern the small clip by selecting the workpoint pattern in the part.
