Inventor Revesion table and Parts list Table Default setting for all drawings

Hello everyone,

I'm actually new to Inventor (inventor 2018)and I'm getting accustomed to it slowly.

But what I'm finding difficult is to change the default coulumns for the revision table and the parts list.

When I go through Manage -> Styles editor-> and change it, it changes only for the current drawing that I'm working in but not to the application itself.

I'd be grateful if anypne knows how to change the default setup of the revision and parts list table.

You have to modify the drawing style in your template (Standard.IDW or Standard.DWG or whatever your drawing template is named). If you modify it in a given drawing, its only defined there.

Update: Although I'm not a fan of doing this.. You can also take your current drawing change and select SAVE next to the Styles editor. This way it stores the information out in the your designated design data folder and it becomes global for all drawings. However the option to save may be disabled like its shown in my image. The SAVE option is controlled by the option "Use Style Library" in your active Inventor Project File.

Meaning Read-Only sets the Save option to be disabled on the ribbon.

You need to update your template.

Open the Standard.idw (If you are using .dwg files, then open the Standard.dwg)

Default location is c:\users\public\documents\autodesk\Inventor 2018\templates

Yours might be in a new location, but considering that you are new to the program, I am assuming its all still default.

Make the changes as you mentioned in the "Manage -> Styles editor->

Save the template, and will be available for all future drawings.

Hints:

Right Click on the Standard -> default standard, and select Export.

Save the exported file in a location of your choosing.

You can then import these settings into existing drawings.

One thing that I found, is that I have to click on the existing revision table and select the standard in order to enforce the new standard update.
