2017 Part List Header Size Change

We recently migrated to IV 2017 from 2016. Migrated all templates and styles. What we're finding is the Header row in a Part List on the IDW is larger in 2017 and we can't adjust it. It's taking up extra real estate.

To show my point I attached a word Doc with images in it. It's a 2016 created file I opened in IV2017 and it shows the narrow part list we want. So I created a 2nd part list as a trial and it came in with the tall header row that we're seeing in 2017 created IDWs. If we compare the Part List styles and the Text Style we use they are all identical between 2016 and 2017.

Anyone else seeing this or have any ideas to correct it?

I must admit I didn't have this issue. Would you be able to upload 2016 drawing for us?

Edit: Did a quick test, created a new drawing in 2016 and saved it as Inventor dwg. Open it in 2017 and placed same parts list (same model reference) and it overlaps 1:1, no differences here for me.

Hi Mike,

This is the table height definition change in 2017. If you simply migrate a drawing created in 2016 to 2017, you won't see a change. It happens if you use a migrated template or you create a new table from scratch. Please send me an example. I can show you how to change the height to look like in 2016. It is a bit tedious but it is doable.

Hi Mike,

This has something to do with the zero-width columns in the PartsList. In the past, when the width was set to zero, the column would sort of be hidden. When these columns are needed, they can be expanded. In some cases, the hidden columns could be hidden and could not be recovered. The way we solved the problem was to make sure the heading, regardless of hiding or not is always considered when calculating the row height. In your case, some of the hidden columns have wide heading like (Reference M#) resulting in unusually big row height.

I personally think it is better not to include zero-width columns. The table control just does not offer enough options to create exact table you like as in the edit dialog. Some sort of inconsistency always exists. Do you have to have the hidden columns in the PartsList?

That did it. The 0 width columns are from a legacy VBA Add-In we no longer use and they've been there for many, many years, and they didn't cross my mind. I removed those columns and then drug the size of the Part List Header and it snapped to the smaller height as expected.
