Hi there,

My first post on here.

Thank you in advance for your time.

95% of the time, tutorials do not load in the tutorial window in Inventor. But sometimes they do, very rarely. Usually the box is either blank or displays this unhelpful message:

"Failed to load URL http://localhost:44441/guided-tutorial-plugin/v2/engine#/play/INVNTOR/2018/ENU/Sketch%20tutorial%201?channel=guided-tutorial-response-channel-000000?mode=enabled?user=Daniel?tutorialLanguage=ENU with error A connection attempt was refused. (-102)."

Context:

This is a brand new instillation of Inventor, as a new user. After noticing the problem, I tried a Autodesk programme (sorry I forgot the name) which resets all Autodesk settings. Later I used the uninstaller tool, and uninstalled all software, and reinstalled. Later I examined firewall settings, ensured they do not conflict. I tried to load the tuts with different wifi connections too. All of which has led me to no solution.

What puzzles me is, one or 2 times, the tutorial did load.

Using this on bootcamp, windows 10.

Based on the error message I would start with your firewall software, you need to make sure ports 44441 and 44442 are open. If you look through the list of Allowed Applications it will probably show up as "Evented I/O for V8 JavaScript", might also check if your anti-virus is trying to block it as well.

Thanks,

Hi, thanks bud.

I had no luck with that. I don't really know much about how to configure ports, or even look at them. But following an online guide I seem to have added those ports and gave them full permissions (without even fully understanding any risks involved). Didn't work.

Then I manually allowed connections to Inventor, in case they weren't already permitted. Still doesn't work.

Also disabled antivirus software.

Try disabling your Firewall first and see if that solves the issue. If so, you will need to either open the port numbers in the Fire-Wall software or add Inventor.exe as an Exception to the Fire-Wall. Different Fire-Walls require different solution methods.

Ok got mine to work. First make sure Autodesk is closed.

Go to the path C:Autodesk/WI/AutodeskInventor(year)/x64/LWS

Right click and uninstall AutodeskDesktopConnect.msi

Double click AutodeskDesktopConnect.msi

Right click and uninstall AutodeskGuidedTutorialPlugin.msi

Double click AutodeskGuidedTutorialPlugin.msi

Right click and uninstall AutodeskInventorConnectPlugin.msi

Double click AutodeskInventorConnectPlugin.msi

If you get an error when trying to uninstall then it's probably due to previously having a different version like I did. Go to control panel, uninstall a program and look for the name mentioned and uninstall from there. They'll also have the same icon (little computer screen)

Fortunately, it was the easiest and simplest solution.
After trying to verify the problem with the firewall, without achieving results, I found in this post what I needed.
Thank you very much!
