Hello,

I have a part made using the Frame Generator. There are lugs various distances apart and 2 different sizes. What method would you recommend for adding Holes into all Lugs. Small Lugs have 1 Hole at size 10 and Large Lugs have 2 Holes at 14 size

Thanks

Peter

Are the lugs placed with Frame Generator based on skeleton sketches?

If you have used reused then adding hole to one part would have updated the rest of reused components

It all depends on how you intend to document these holes as well. Do you expect them to show up at the part level (lugs)? then use the above method.

Do you expect them to show up in the assembly? if you don't really care about having it on the part and you will document them on the assembly drawing then you can use assembly hole feature and filter affected lugs with Add Participant / Remove Participant components.

TIP: if you isolate the components before doing the assembly level hole it will only affect visible components. Undo Isolate and select a different set before creating the second hole.

iFeature or Copy Feature will be just as slow as using Hole command.

If you need to do a bom and part drawing then might as well use Replace. Replace on Selection was not available in 2013 as far as I know and the members (lugs) need to have same orientation for this to work.

If I was you I would fake it. Add the hole at the assembly level, then create a view representation in the assembly with just the lug.

Create a new drawing, place a lug view outside the border (this is for ipropes and titleblock info) then place a view of the assembly (lug only design view rep) in the border.

You can always decide to document this on the assembly drawing with detail view or separate view (lug only design view rep).

That's the thing, Mark. There are too many individual parts (all the same) generated by FG as separate files.

It's not about adding multiple holes in a single part, but about adding a single hole, in the same place, same size to multiple files.
