Moved to 2018 and lost a Content Center family in the move

Just started using 2018 (was using 2017). I open an assembly that has a content center part and I need to change the size. I get a message that says "

The family is no longer in the current library configuration". This is a custom library that I created and used in 2017. I use Vault and it is a vault managed library.

I can go into Inventor 2017, CC editor and the library is there. I can edit a part, insert new parts... anything I want to do without any problems in 2017. If I right click on the properties of the library, I see this.

Now when I go into Inventor 2018 and go to the CC editor, I see this.

Notice that there are 10 items in the 2017 editor and only 9 in the 2018 editor. Of course, the family that is not there is the one that I am trying to edit. ALL of the family's say //localhost:Stadium Pro Extrusions for the family library name.

How do I get my library to appear in 2018 so I can use the library in my assembly?

Thanks,

Hi Kirk,

Unless I am mistaken, you would need to update the 2017 CC library in 2018 in order to use it. I think you could do it by going to Project -> Content Center settings (the button at the bottom on the right) -> find the Library and Update.

Many thanks!

I believe that you would need to copy the desired CC files from your 2017 Vault into the 2018 Vault and then migrate them to the current version. Looks like your Project File can't find the CC files (warning icon) that's being displayed.

In 2018 I see you have "Stadium Pros Extrusions" only but can you confirm you have the same in 2017? or is it a merged view like if the family would reside in a different library?

Adrian,

Weird.. Yep I would say so. I am somewhat still learning how the CC is managed by vault, so any hick-up like this and it really makes me start wondering.

You are correct about the filters... there are not any selected in CC Editor

Here is a screen shot from 2017 showing I have the same library view shown as I do in 2018.

I tried to transfer the Vault content to Desktop content in 2018. When I do that, I can see the libraries it is copying out and the iOpenBoards (SEA) is not one of them Instead of 10 libraries, it only does 9. So I go to the 2017 Inventor and try to transfer from there. It gives me an error b/c I am using Vault 2018 (says Unsupported Server version....)

About the only thing I can do is to export the library from my Vault ADMS. In ADMS, I see two of the Stadium Pros Extrusion. One is by this name and the other has AI2018 appended on the name. I am exporting out both of them. I will send you a PM with a link to my Dropbox folder.

Below is a screen cap of what I see from ADMS.

Thanks,

Kirk

Adrian,

I think I figured it out. I had actually added that one library (iOpenBoards (SEA)) while I was still using Inventor 2017... but I was using Vault 2018. Hence, I had already migrated the 2018 vault libraries when I did the Vault 2017 to 2018 upgrade.

Now when I started using Inventor 2018, the library that was partitioned for 2018 was the old one.... and did not include the iOpenBoards (SEA). So what I needed was the "new" version of the content center to be brought forward to 2018.

To fix it, here is what I did:

Using ADMS, I deleted the library named AI2018 Stadium Pros Extrusion.

Went to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.AUTODESKVAULT\MSSQL\DATA and mundged the name of Stadium Pros Extrusion.mdf and .ldf

In ADMS under the Libraries node, I found the "Stadium Pros Extrusions" library. I right clicked on its and selected "Copy". Gave it a name of AI2018 Stadium Pros Extrusions. Now I have a copy of the latest content, but partitioned for AI2018.

Opened Inventor 2018 content center library. It told me that some of the libraries needed to be "Update".

My CC content works beautifully now No more error saying "The family is no longer in the current library configuration" when I try to edit one of the members that are in a migrated assembly.

Thanks,

Kirk

I am glad you fixed it because I could not import your library in 2017. It seems you must have migrated it already.
