Prompted Entry in Title Box with another Text Parameter

I am trying to creating a single text box in a title block for a Inventor 2017 drawing that includes both a text parameter and a prompted entry together. The goal would be to have the drawing show my part number, and then the sheet number, in this format: ABCD-xx

The prompted entry would be used to enter that "xx" sheet number after the part number. Ideally, I would just use the sheet number text parameter to insert the page number. However, our company starts its sheet numbering at 0, not 1, unlike the default sheet numbering. Any insight would be appreciated.

Are your part number always the same number of digits?

Typically a prompted entry occurs before placement of base view..

How do you expect this field to know the part number?

Why do you need to do this?

I'm sure its possible to have some ilogic code to append the sheet number prompted value after but are you ok with having ilogic code run (drawing view change trigger I guess)

Unfortunately not, otherwise I would just place another text box next to it with the prompted entry in it.

out of curiosity why do you have such a requirement..

Whats wrong with a part number field (auto populated on base view placement) and another section that shows sheet X of Y..

Or heck... Even "smarter" is to change your companies procedure to match the functionality of the software you are using..

You choose to start with zero.. The software does not function that way.. Instead of having to maintain a "hack" why not adapt to what the software you are using does out of the box..

Sorry.. I will always question companies that seem to be so afraid of change and work harder to accommodate that difference instead of just changing their procedure to work with what they have.. Makes no sense to me..

I agree, it would easier to simply change the procedure to start with page 1. I just wanted to know if there was an easy way to keep the old numbering scheme before I approached my manager and suggested changing it. Thanks for the thought on the topic, I at least have some more alternate options now to suggest.

err.. there is an error.. Its pulling the part number from the drawing properties and not the base view model..

If I get a chance I will correct that.. (Someone standing behind me now needing me on the production floor)..

@Anonymous: Welcome to the forum.

I think @mcgyvr is right, you should try and adapt if possible rather than customizing and hoping to work on new releases.

Just my 2cents here, but right off the bat I will admit not to have tested the provided solution (ilogic)

I would use the existing functionality of reported sheet number and subtract 1 (not sure if that's even possible, just talking out loud)

The reason for doing it this way rather than counting number of sheets is because some work with sheets which are "Excluded From Counting" and I am not sure if iLogic is smart enough to pick on those.

Here's what I mean.

The "sheet in sheets" will report all sheets regardless of their "exclude" status.

Thanks for your input. I may go with excluding the first sheet from the count as you did in the video, which will give the other sheets the correct numbering scheme, and use a different title block for just the first page so that my part number can read ABCD-00. I appreciate the help.
