Help on making gridded patterns in sheet metal.

Assuming this piece of sheet metal was completely rectangular, with no pieces cut out, how did the creator of this design the gridded pattern? I would like to do the same to another piece of sheet metal.

Hi! If I were you, I would start with the grills first without creating any rectangle or hole or round. After the grills are created, create the boundary and start drilling holes. This would make your life easier in terms of sketching. Don't try to create a massive sketch like this. You will run into issues and editing can be painful. Another way is to create a sketch block representing the rounded square. You can pattern the sketch block to create the grill. Then worry about the boundary and holes later.

Also, it would not surprise me if the original designer created the 2D profile in AutoCAD and imported it to Inventor.
