Hello @jhhEFBNL there is a similar question recently posted that has a good bit of information that might be useful.

iPart as an Assembly

You could setup your vertical constraint to an iLogic Form where you would just choose which notch height to use from a drop down list of predefined locations which you already have determined from the first post image. As the height increases setup an iLogic call to add another angle bracer and move the horizontal top bracer up to fit. That will be a bit tricky to call a left angle and then right angle but doable.

Make the horizontal an iPart and choose that from a list of predefined lengths. The far end vertical would move down as the length was increased.

If you don't want to do it that way you could make the whole thing a derived part assembly and use the Copy Design through the Vault to make any custom size you want while reusing standard parts and keeping revision management. That would be my ideal situation so you can document who designed what and when.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if a post solves your issue or answers your question.

Making a dynamic pallet racking

So im new to the 3d part and Inventor and are trying to do some self learning, but for now im stuck and cant seem to get any further.

So what i am trying to do is to make us a dynamic 3d pallet rack that we can use to make new models to use in factory design.

This on should be dynamic so we can change the following properties of it:

- The profile of the column (The profile include holes where both the beam and horizontal bracers should fit into)

- The height of the column (This is made whit a multi choice)

- The depth between the columns (We have 3 standard depths)

- The placement of the horizontal bracers (This are depending on the height of the columns)

- The profile of the beams (This is depending on what weight load we want)

- The length of the beams (Multi choice from standard lengths)

- The placement of the beams (Light opening between the beams)

The making off the column, horizontal bracers and beams are no problem.

The problem starts when im going to make the assembly. Im not getting the horizontal bracers to adapt to the height of the colum

How can i solve the wish to make placement/length of the horizontal bracers adaptiv to what length of the column is?

- If the height of the colum is 3000 mm, there will be 5 bracers, first starting at 163 mm (flat), distance to next is 550 mm, distance to next is 850 mm, distance to next 850 mm and one at top (flat) should be 181 mm form the top and down.

- If the height of the colum is 3300 mm, there will be 6 bracers, first starting at 163 mm (flat), distance to next is 550 mm, distance to next is 550 mm, distance to next 700 mm, distance to next is 850 mm and one at top (flat) should be 181 mm from the top and down.

How can i solve the wish to make the number of the beams and placement of the beams?

Are there any good guides out there thats is linked up to pallet racks and similar items?

Her you can see racking made that is not adaptive:

Here you can see the setup for the horizontal bracers:

The column:

Way to just jump right into the deep end

Depending on the total number of versions I might just suggest iparts/iassemblies..

Others may have "ilogic" driven examples,etc...

Thanks for the feedback. Been looking at this guids earlier to.

So for now the making the parts, making them as ipart/ilogic parts is not a problem.

My problem starts when i want to make a dynamic assembly.

Making a pallet rack static is also no problem.

But as soon as i want to get the parts dynamic to each other i'm totally stuck.

So are there any tips on what solution i should go for if i want to make this dynamic?

What is the best solution to solve the dynamic part of the horizontal bracers? This need to adjust both on the length of each bracer and where on the upright to be attached to.

The beam needs to be dynamic so i can choose the length of it and the placement on the upright.

And for what i have understand i might have taken a bit much over me but a solution shal be found 🙂
