Content center is nice for standard off the shelf parts.

However I ALWAYS save as a custom part to a directory of my choice,

with a name of my choice.

NEVER as a STANDARD part

I have just taken over doing the drawings in a manufacturing company,

I am literally spending hours trying to find missing, unresolved parts in existing drawings

that were put in from content center as a standard part and are now missing and have to be looked for, found and resolved.

Even though the iam or idw will open with the uresolved parts missing, a lot of modifcations are impossible to do,

with those parts missing.

ie you can't move a view to another page and other things like that

What does everybody else do.

Mike Kovacik

Inventor 2018

South Africa

Saving content center parts as standard is useful for saving time and file storage space with constantly reused parts like nuts and bolts. The issue that comes up is using the default save location, because it saves to a specific folder named with the current version of Inventor. If you are working with multiple people without Vault, you typically want the location to be some network based location. If it's just one person, it should be pointed to some location that can be easily mapped to for future releases.

Gregory

In this case it is one person, ie me, before me it was also one person, and it has never been with vault here,

See jpeg of a typical scenario for me.

Now what is the best way to quickly resolve these parts which will be fasteners

Mike

Hi @MikeKovacik4928

This is a file management issue. It sounds like the CC Files folder was moved for whatever reason or is stuck on a c:/ Drive somewhere so the files are lost. Your project should be pointing to a consistent CC files folder. I would try and find the missing files or place the new CC files from the library and then resolve them to the new files. Alternatively delete the missing reference files and start from scratch.

If you wanted also to head of the danger of missing files you could do a check by code of all the assembly files in your data base and produce a list of these assemblies. At least you can then resolve these files at a convenient time. The ilogic/vba forum has lots of tips on how to do this if your interested. Having said that it is easier to find all the original files if they actually exist and load them into your CC files folder and Inventor would find them automatically.
