Dear community,

i have been having trouble making drawings since every time i put in dimensions and later have to alter the model the dimensions just wont

adjust to the new situation (see attached image).

my question is if there is a way to better ''lock'' or ''constraint'' the dimensions onto model features or something so when i for instance change the diameter of a pipe it changes with the new size.

Hi there,

Is this an iPart or iAssembly?

this is an ipart (multi body part) placed in an assembly

This will happen if you change the iPart in the assembly.
For the dimension it will be a different part, so it is not able to connect the dimensions the the geometry.

It depends on the geometry that will change in the different iPart members.
For instance, if you have a hole in one member and put a dimension on it, the dimension will ben pink if you choose another member without that hole.

In this case the roof nozzle only moved a bit to the left, where as all connected dimensions stayed behind

You could not "Lock" or "Constrain" a dimension with respect to a Model/Geometry.

You can be able to Constrain Ur Views (Detailed / Sectional) with respect to the Geometry.

For Detail View:

Right Click and Select "Attach" to Lock the View Boundaries. So that if u r moving or updating the sizes it auto-populates itself.

For Sectional View:

Right Click and "Edit", Using Project geometries constrain it with the section line.

This could help you a little.

Regards,

S.Praveen
