API to extract BOM data from Inventor File to text file

Hi, I am an ERP system developer, looking to create an API to extract the BOM data from an Inventor file into a text file to import into my ERP system.

Where is a good starting place to learn the basics?

There is a code example in the Programming/API Help. Search for "BOMQuery" and a sample for creating a BOM list will come up.

Thanks! This code looks straightforward, but, being new to CAD, I'm trying to locate the API under tools, but it is not there - is this an add-in? Where can I download it.
