I can confirm the behavior, it's even more clear if you keep the rotate function active so you can see the crosshair in the center of your screen.

If you stop rotating with the 3DConnexion device it will re-center on a part that the crosshair is on.

I'm wondering if this is actually something with Inventor though, because this behavior does not happen when using rotate/movement commands.

(F2,F3,F4 or actual activated commands)

Did the behavior start when you upgraded the 3DConnexion drivers to the latest version and, if so, which version were you using before?

There have been all sorts of little changes since 3DXWare10 came out of the beta, might be this is one of them.

Hello,

I'm using a space navigator.

When i centre on an object i want to focus on and rotate around it i might rotate another part of the assembly in front of it by mistake.

If i stop rotating for a fraction of a second, then start rotating in the opposite direction to get back to my object, the view has automatically centred on the other part in the foreground. So now my focus is on the wrong part.

When constraining small items such as bolts this can be very frustrating.

Has anyone seen this and, beter still, found a way to disable this?

Thanks

David Richardson

Do you have "dominant" option on? (if so turn it off)

How long have you been using the space navigator?

It can take a while to get used to.

I never have a problem with it rotating around a specific component because I can easily just move the puck to the side or up or whatever while rotating to change that..

I constrain small fasteners ALL the time.. and am never bothered by a rotational center because its so easy to change it on the fly.

For what its worth.. Here is how I have mine configured for Inventor..

And people in my office will just sit behind me as I'm modeling just watching how fast I can move around in 3d space.. Its like watching a movie to them..

Thanks mcgyvr

I've also been using them for a long while now. They are great for doing flythoughs of plants etc. And i do find it so much faster when doing lots of connections. Settings below FYI.

Please see the video attached for a better explanation. As you can see, i don't use the mouse of F4 to change the centre, it just changes when i stop rotating. it's not a problem on a small assembly, but with a large assembly it can be infuriating. I noticed the change when we started using 2016 (which we are still using.....).

http://autode.sk/2wJT2o3

Hopefully by the time you read this the video will have uploaded.

Thanks

David

Hi David,

The 3DConnexion driver is a 3rd party product, so Autodesk have no influence on how the driver works.

I would check the 3DConnexion website and download the latest driver.

One thing you could try, is to turn off Enhanced Highlighting from Application Options / Color tab.

Cheers
