I am looking for some help opening a rendering of a home a CAD firm provided me. They said this is the format that can be imported to Inventor. They did not tell me what software they use but the model is just wireframe so is difficult to view. Anyone know how I can open this and show it correctly?

After I asked for the Revit file they stated they do not use Revit and can produce the following. Which is best?

3ds, .dwg, .dxf, .skp (sketchup), .stl, and .fbx (Lumion)

@Brailyn

AutoCAD indicates that the geometry was not created in AutoCAD

The List command in AutoCAD indicates that the geometry is polyface mesh (not solid bodies).

You could try dxf or stl, but in the end this will only be good for use as visual reference.

If you have access to AutoCAD you can change Shademode to shaded and turn off layers as needed for interior visibility.

You can use the Measure tool to get distances.

Do you need the entire model - or only a small portion of it?

Thank you! I only want to view / section the model. I was able to get meshes using the online autodesk viewer application but it is kind of slow.

So DXF and STL contain mesh info and tthis DWG does not?

Edit: tagging @JDMather as I forgot to reply to your message!

Go back and reread my previous response. I wrote that AutoCAD indicates that the geometry in the dwg file is polyface mesh.
