The solution I found was to delete the local old versions folder after renaning and re-using file names for different parts prior to openning the assembly from vault.

I have a dangling unused part as a reference in one of my assemblies, when I use Inventor help is states to use the "Replace Model Reference" icon in the manage tab. I don't have the Modify panel on the ribbon like the Autodesk article shows, therefore I cannot used "Modify Model Reference" as per the help article.

Also, the links icon is greyed out in the tools panel, so cannot use that.

Hi!

Do you mean this?

This is only available on drawings environment, not in the assembly environment.

What you need to do more specifically?

When I open an assembly from vault, it is aking for a part that has long been deleted from the assembly, my workspace and from Vault. It is linked to this assembly somehow, I no longer need the part. I can "skip" everytime I open the assembly from Vault but I want to fix it because that is annoying.

When you check out the assembly, and open it, can you see the unresolved (missing) part?

Like this?

If so, just delete it and save the assembly.

Other thing that can be happening is, some parts in the assembly, have some geometry reference with the missing part.

After opening the assembly, check if you have the red cross active in the assembly, and fix the issues.

Nope, there is no red cross and no unresolved part. It only happens when I open the assembly from vault, not when I open from my workspace. I have had this issue in the past and I was able to use the link command to remove the link, however in this instance the link command icon is greyed out.

It is a part that I renamed in the Vault, and then subsequently deleted from my assembly. The assembly is fine, no errors, it's just upon open it is asking for this part I no longer use in the assembly.

Vault keep full history of assemblies. Including removed parts in assembly.

Vault also keep links of renamed parts.

There are probably old versions with the deleted part.

Hi! Likely there is a corrupted reference stored in the iam file. You could try resolve it to a random part. Then delete the instance in the browser. If it does not help, you may need to demote all the parts to a new subassembly. Use the new sub as the top-level assembly in order to get rid of the ghosted reference.

Many thanks!
