Hi, Thank you for your help! I wasn't even aware that there was an indicator that there were issues. I've gone through every part and resolved all issues I could find and still seem to be encountering the original issue. I'm attaching the updated files (3/5 in this response and 2/5 in the following.)

Thank you!

I am attaching an assembly file for a project I'm working on in Inventor Professional 2018 to help the company I work for decide if Inventor is a good way to go for our needs. I am running into an issue however when I create a contact set and test it with the contact solver. It seems that my bolt (this is a lock assembly I'm working on) is able to pass right through the internal latch. Everything else seems to be contacting as it should. I'm wondering if since the parts that are touching are so thin/small that perhaps that's giving me issues?

I'm a true novice to this software, so I appreciate any assistance I can get!

Hi! Please attach the part ipt files. The iam file is like a wrapper. There are two possibilities that I am aware of. 1) Contact Solver is not enabled. Please go to Inspect section -> enable Contact Solver. 2) There is pre-existing interference between components. This means the Contact Solve is in failed state due to the interference. To check that, you can run Interference Analysis and then make sure components are not interfered with each other.

Many thanks!

@Anonymous

There seems to be an issue there (might be a bug) in that the browser order is effecting how the contact sets function

The way you had it when I moved the latch it seemed to be ok but moving the bolt was causing problems.. If I dragged the latch above the bolt then the opposite happened.. That should not be happening AFAIK.. (I never use contact sets or the solver)

@johnsonshiue Johnson are you seeing the same?

Why is 1010AM-2Body 1 and 2 included in the Contact Set?

Also, why is your assembly at a "weird" angle?

Rather than dragging with mouse - you should probably Drive Constraint to test Contact Sets.

And, if you are serious about physical dynamics - I would use Environments>Dynamic Simulation rather than Contact Sets.

Hi! There is a bug in this case. Contact Solver should be able to detect the collision. It seems to have something to do with the small faces colliding with each other. The behavior is not right regardless. I will work with project team to understand the behavior better.

Many thanks!
