Inventor 2015 Modeling Wrinkled Paper Bag For 3D Print

I am attempting to create something similar to this:

But cannot get enough wrinkle action. I just need to know how to wrinkle an object properly.

Any ideas? I'm sure this is an easy answer.

Hello,

Freefrom could be a good way to create that shape.

Especially if you are trying to get all them wrinkles in it.

Hello,

I am sure you can get freeform in Inventor 2015.

I have attached a screencast. This shows you how to place freeform on your ribbon.

Which you will then be able to use.

In Inventor it is definitely not an easy answer!

Follow @Thomas_Savage's advice if you really want to do this in Inventor. But Inventor is not particularly suited to this kind of task. There are lots of other modelers out there that will do a much better/easier job of it.

That's not freeform.

Plus the loft has an error, and a few other errors from what i can see.

I thought you wanted to model the part from scratch.

That's why i suggested freeform.

Plus that is nothing like the picture that you attached.

Looks like you have a good start to the project but are just struggling to get the wrinkle texture with the standard Inventor tools.

Like @Thomas_Savage shared, using freeform tools will get you close but might be a bit tedious and difficult.

You could try using Fusion 360 which has different sets of surface techniques.

If you want to just reproduce the bag sculpture you can use ReCap Photo to scan and create a digital mesh that can be printed easily.

You can't do much with 2015 Freeform, because in 2015 only soild shapes could be handled.

In 2016, you can use a surface as basic shape, and more is possible. But it still isn't like wrinkled paper, and you'll run into problems with attempts on thickening this surface..

I think, 3ds Max will get good results. But learning that is no 2-hours session. Do some googling for "3ds Max wrinkles tutorial", and you can see several samples.
