AutoCAD to Inventor

We do all our modelling from 3D Scan data in AutoCAD but we have a client who is using Inventor. Some items do not export such as surfaces. Is there a method we can apply to export to *.iam or *.ipt from AutoCAD to simplify his process?

What are you currently exporting to? What's the current workflow?

Neither STEP, IGES or SAT should have any issues with surfaces.

Even a proper 3D DWG should be able to be imported properly into Inventor.

We export a .sat file directly from AutoCAD but the client who uses Inventor
says the floor (surface) does not come through. We are now creating a solid
of the floor - let's see if that works

Are you sure your customer didn't click off surfaces in the import option?

You could try exporting STEP and IGES as well. Inventor opens both of those as well.

I would simply use the dwg file.

Hi! Yes, JD is right. Why couldn't they import the dwg file directly to Inventor? Have they tried it?
