Hi! When you run Inventor, do you have other applications running? If you restart the machine and start Inventor, how much memory is used in Task Manager? Your machine only has 8GB, which only means the minimum system requirement. I suspect the disk usage is because of swap space (disk memory). Could you try cleaning up %temp%? After that, does it help?

Many thanks!

Inventor 2018 Disk Usage 100%

Hey everyone, how's it going?

As described on the title, i'm having this issue with inventor reaching 100% of disk usage. It's really annoying and i don't know why it happens. Even when i'm just with a simple part open, it gets laggy and sometimes i have to restart the inventor.

My PC specs are:

Intel Xeon E3-1240 v3 3.40GHz

8GB Ram

Nvidia Quadro 410 512MB DDR3

I don't know if it's the network i'm working in or if it's inventor. I don't have any problems related to RAM or CPU.

Thanks everyone!

What operating system? What else is running at the same time? Can you use the Resource Monitor utility to find out what's keeping the disk busy? Is this a personal computer or work computer?

Sam B

Inventor Professional 2018.2
Vault Workgroup 2018.0
Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit, SP1

Hey, SBix.

It's a windows 8.1, just outlook running at the same time, sometimes google chrome but its usually only one tab (not videos or many images). What's the resource monitor? And yes, it's a work computer. The inventor versions is 2018, talking about it is there any Service Pack?

Thanks!

I'm not sure about Windows 8.1, but in Windows 7, there is a utility called Resource Monitor which displays activity and performance data for CPU, memory (RAM), disks, and network. In the Disk tab, you can get a display of the programs that are using disk resources, as well as what particular files.

In my case, we've had some trouble with a software auditing package that needed to routinely scan the entire hard drive to bring its statistics up to date; on a mechanical hard drive, that could sometimes take a half hour or more, and the computer was almost unusable during that time.

The Resource Monitor should be able to show you what's eating your disk access.

Sam B

Inventor Professional 2018.2
Vault Workgroup 2018.0
Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit, SP1
