topic Detail View Break Lines - What controls the scale? in Inventor Forum

I have a rather large size model. When I do a detail view, the scale of the "smoothness" of the lines is so rough, it trims off part of the detail view... particularly at the left and right hand ends. You can see it in the screen cap attached here.

I can get it to show all the part if I drag the detail box out much wider, but that does not look right on the drawing. I don't want to use "Smooth Cutout Shape".

Is there a way to control the scale of the trim lines? I looked in Styles Editor, but could not find anything.

Thanks.

How about using a Full Detail Boundary. I do not have a very large assembly to try it on but for the one I have, I think it would solve your problem since it does not cut the view off. See attachments

That's what I meant that I said I didn't want to use the "Smooth Cutout Shape". It makes the cut lines straight. I would prefer them to be jagged just so the horizontal portion of the cut looks like a cutaway view and not actual part of the model.

Thanks

Hi Kirk,

A few places to check. Go to Style and Standard Editor -> View Annotation. There you can configure section view or detail view line and leader. The actual scale and width is controlled by the layer. The default layer is Detail Boundary layer for detail view and Section Line layer for section view.

Many thanks!

Johnson,

The best I can tell, changing the scale and width just changes the scale/width of the boundary in the parent view. I am trying to control the "smoothness" of the cut line that is actually in the detail view.

Thanks,
