Take a look at the the threadModeler app from the Autodesk App Store.

A fastener part file that has modeled threads as opposed to cosmetic threads will be heavier, as Inventor uses more resources to generate a cut thread feature. Large assemblies with 1000's of fasteners will see a hit in these resources, as well as larger file sizes. Most CAD packages use cosmetic/ bitmap threads for this reason.

HTH

Hello to everyone

Do Autodesk plan to implement a modeled thread option in Inventor like Fusion360 has?

My main software is Inventor, I was using Fusion360 just for fun and realised that modeled thread option is really useful.

It is pretty easy to create your own modeled threads from scratch.

Not quite as easy as Fusion, but not difficult.

Agreed! If we had threads modeled in our fasteners, assemblies for the last 2 places I've been at, it'd take days to open a file.

I agree with you, I would like an option to chose between designed and modelled thread. In 90% of the time designed thread is more excellent, but when I need a modelled thread now I have to do it manually. That is why I mentioned Fusion, Fusion has one simple checkbox that you have to check if you want modeled thread, the default is designed.

For most users maybe this isn't important at all, for me it is because I like efficiency, I don't want to waste time manually modeling a thread or use third party solutions.

Many people have solved this problem without third-party help, using iFeatures.

This is a tool available in Inventor for creating predefined features that can be inserted (modeled) in any file.
