Does anyone know if it is possible to measure the internal volume of say a round hollow pipe of a given length (model).Of course its not difficult using basic formula .

If the inside contour of the object varies ie is not consistent. then this makes it harder to work out the internal volume.

If one can imagine a square casting with reinforcement webs on the inside ,can inventor give a volume of the inside.

Any suggestions.

Why don't you use the parameters feature inside Inventor to input the formula based on your design parameters?

e.g. (PI*D1*D1/4... etc.)

Then simply look up the value for any given design. You could even make this a custom iproperty.

Thanks Dan

I think thats most probably one method that could be used,i was hoping that there might be a quicker approach ,most of the designs have already been

drawn not using parametric dimensions.

In this instance i just need to find the volume of water to give me the weight for hydrotesting.

Looks like a calculator and scrap of paper might be useful, perhaps i expect too much from inventor.

Regards

This is easy to have Inventor do the calculation for you using Derived Component.

Hi! This has been discussed several times before. There are different ways to do that. Here is a nice video on Youtube showing Derive Assembly workflow.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dy-8E74pIZQ

Many thanks!
