Hi! iAssembly does not support the concept of custom iAssembly. It is not like iPart capable of generating regular table-driven members and custom members. It is a limitation right now.

Many thanks!

Hello all!

I need some help with the iAssemblies and iParts, I don't know how is the best way to do it or even It's better to do it with an iLogic? I am not familiar with iLogic and just a little bit with iAssembly and iPart.

Well here it is my issue, I have an assembly with 4 different parts and one of them is an iPart (which creates 3 differents parts with differents lengths). The problem comes when I set up the table and when I bring the new iAssembly to another assembly it doesn't let me to choose de variation of parts numbers and lengths for this iPart. Don't know if I have explained well myself.

I have attached the iPart and the iAssembly that I am trying to make.

The one I want to make variable is the Spring.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards,

Juan

kelly.young has edited your subject line for clarity: Help with iAssembly and iParts

I suspect you made the assembly before making an iPart of the spring.

What you need to do is remove the spring from the assembly and insert it again. After that, click Edit Table on the assembly, look for the spring under Components, click the + and then select the Table Replace, now click >> and there you go, you should be able to change the spring.

I hope this fixed your problem.

Thank you Peter,

But probably I didn't explain myself right. I got this step and all is fine..the questions is..

I want to bring all of the varation when I bring in my iAssembly to somewhere else...but only appears the variable that has been setup on the table replace...? this means I need to make another spreadsheet with all the variations? Shouldn't take itself as it's an iPart?

Cheers

yes as far as I know you also need to make all the variations inside the assembly.

Yeah but since the length of the spring changes consistently, you only need to make 3 rows and drag down the rest (in Excel).

You could also do this using a simple iLogic code. I don't know if you can open what I made, because I was working in Inventor 2018.

But what I did is delete the tables (turning the assembly and parts back to normal parts instead of iParts).

Then add a user parameter (numeric) in the assembly and call it SpringLength.

Then click Add Rule under the Manage tab.

Name it Spring Length or whatever you want.

Type the following code:

Parameter("SNXXXX 13mmWIDTH VARIABLE FORCE SPRING:1", "Length") = SpringLength

InventorVb.DocumentUpdate()

Save it.

Now if you go to Parameters and change the value of the user parameter SpringLength, the spring length changes to whatever you typed in.
