Copy partnumber of content center parts to Iproperty: Stocknumber

Hi,

I am using Inventor and Vault professional with the content center.

Is there a possibility to copy the Partnumber to the Stocknumber Iproperty field?

If you are talking about standard content, it's probably best to just change the library table through the editor, then refresh the content.

This could be do a couple of ways..

1. If you have your own read/write content center library, you can make a stocknumber column in your family table and map its column formula the same as the partnumber column and then map it to the stocknumber iproperty in your part.

2. Same as #1, except modify the content center template (and not the family table) and map stocknumber field to partnumber and replace the family template with the new info.

3. Save all of your content center parts as custom in your assembly and then you can make or copy the partnumber information to stocknumber

My vote, in the order they are shown..

Update: Clarification on @MechMachineMan reply.. This is only possible if you have your own read/write content center library (as I pointed out in item #1/2 above). If you are just using the out-of-box Inventor CC libraries this is not possible.

Are you saying you do have your own read/write CC library?

If yes.. Make the change in the family table in the library. Do you know how to do this? Meaning modify (or add) the stock column properties and use the formula field to match the partnumber column. Finally make sure to map that column to the stocknumber property in your part.

Now this only changes the family table and doesn't impact any content center part that you already used in your assembly. I would suggest you read these articles:

to understand how content center parts work after they have been placed in an assembly. From there you will know how to address updating locally in your models.

Hi,

I use the standaard content center library installed on the server (read only).

Can I easy make a custom content center (read/write) and copy the whole content center to the new one?

So I can add the extra column.

I just started working in the Vault environment.. So I used only a few bolts until now. So this will not be a problem.

Yes you can.. Is your Vault server managing your content center libraries or are you still using desktop content center? What does your Inventor Tools/Application Options/Content center tab state?

You can just add this iLogic rule in your content center parts.

Don't forget to set the event trigger to before save.

First open from content center. Select the part you want to add and open and save the file where you want.

Inside that file you can add the iLogic rule:

iProperties.Value("Project", "Stock number") = iProperties.Value("Project", "Part Number")

Then set the event trigger to before save and save file. Then on the Manage tab select the editor it the content center part.

Last right click on the part you want to edit and replace the family template with the part you saved.

You are all done. I hope this helps.

Yes but it goes a lot quicker than you might think. I would suggest figuring out all the iLogic you want in the parts before changing them.

For example we have ours automatically fill out a lot of custom properties just by the file name. This is just our plate from content center iLogic.

It splits the file name to fill out the part number and job number. It also fills in the description correct every time and rounds mass of the plate.

I was very busy at work..

Sorry for the late response.

I managed to copy one bolt type to the content center and mapped the partnumber to the stocknumber property.

Is there a posibillity to add a new family table column to all the content center files at once?

And is it possible to show only the custom content center files when I place a content center part in the assembly?
