But in regards to getting everything in one folder without destroying links, you can make use of pack and go.

Are you sure about that? I think I already tried that, but nevertheless Inventor keeps asking for parts to resolve in the new created folders

How can I check if all used parts, subassemblies etc, in my assembly are in 1 working folder (windows explorer) or it's subfolders, and no links to content center nor parts outside the working folder exist?

What is the cleanest way to change that if it does occur?

Create a new project (.ipj file) at your working folder level that has no references to libraries beyond its workspace; make it active; open your top level assembly. Any components that won't resolve are outside your working folder and can simply be moved into the working folder or subfolders.

Sam B

Inventor Professional 2018.2.3
Windows 7 SP1

Hi! You can use Design Assistant to check that. Go to All Programs -> Autodesk -> Autodesk Inventor Pro xxxx -> Design Assistant. Open the assembly in DA, you will see all the reference files listed and their current location.

Another way to do that is to use an EDM system like Vault to manage your files.

Many thanks!

Remember to check options about the folder structure and to keep content center parts.

If you do pack and go on top level assembly, it takes everything with the right boxes checked

About the content centre parts; I want to keep them in my project obviously, but not as a link to somewhere (server, library,...), but as real parts in my local folder.

Unless you are using Vault (different rules apply for Vault), you should define the location for Content Center parts in your project files. In the Project Editor expand Folder Options and edit the Content Center Files location to be a subfolder within your working folder. When this project is the active project, all non-custom (Standard) content center components will be placed in this folder, and this folder and subfolders will be treated as read-only by Inventor.

Hope that helps,

Sam B

Inventor Professional 2018.2.3
Windows 7 SP1
