Inventor/Revit to Solidworks Export - Bounding Box Error

I have a fairly large .SAT file I have received from an end user (114 MB) which was originally created in Revit. I can open the file in Inventor no sweat. My problem is that I do my pipe routing in Solidworks. When I open the file in Solidworks I get a bounding box error that the file is outside the -500m to 500m limit. I know that SW has a 1km limit however this assembly is nowhere near that size.

My question is how can I see, in Inventor, what the bounding box dimensions are and once I know what they are reduce it down. The entire assembly is about 90 feet x 90 feet, well within the 1 km limit.

Is this an issue with the model being originally created in Revit? I am completely unfamiliar with that piece of software so Im not sure if adding this bounding box is something done in Revit. According to the Revit website it will only export to these formats which is why we are using .SAT files:

CAD Formats

DWG
DXF
DGN
ACIS SAT

Any help is appreciated. Sorry for lack of attachments. Im posting for a different computer then I model on. Ill post some screen grabs later.

Edit: Im using Inventor 2018 and SW 2018

This might be a question for a SWX forum?

If you have access to Revit, or your end user is feeling helpful, you can crop the Revit model down to the bit you are interested in before exporting to SAT.

Hi!

Inventor 's model range is explained in the following article. The limit applies to any single piece of geometry within a part. It has to be smaller than 100m in length. And, it should be bounded within +-100m in each direction. Assembly is not subject to the limit since an assembly does not contain any geometry. All geometry is stored in the individual parts.

Hi! To avoid the bounding box error, you may need to scale down the geometry. Please feel free to share an example that exhibits the behavior. Your issue may not be the same as the original issue.

Hi...thank you so much for your quick response.

I am sharing a .ipt file which I made in Inventor and I am trying to export it in Solidworks via step file format but I get an error saying "contains a body with an invalid bounding box"

Hi! Many thanks for sharing the file! The part contains two solid bodies located far away from origin. As you can see in the image, the delta X and delta Y are more than 1000m. Inventor's valid model range is +-100m in each direction. I believe SWX is about 1000m (not sure about the detail). Either way, the distance far exceeds the range.

You need to use Direct Edit -> Bodies -> Move to relocate the bodies closer to the origin. I believe the error will be gone.

The +-100meters Inventor limitation you mentioned means, that if the units are Milimeters, then the limitation is +-100 000mm?

Or in general Inventor has +-100 units (any units: Inches, Feet, Meters...) limitation?

Hi! Inventor's valid model range is +-100m in each direction regardless of the length unit. This space is fixed at +-100m. You may go beyond a little bit but the behaviors can be unpredictable.
