Hello @Anonymous what are you trying to accomplish with the pdf export?

Reason I ask is that you could make a Screenshot, Realistic Ray Trace, or Inventor Studio Rendering and then print that created file as .pdf with better results.

Exporting from the Drawing.idw you get export options, but from the assembly modeling space creating a pdf from there isn't something I've ever wanted to do as there are better options to get good images.

You could render then bring the saved image into the .idw to include text, details, or dimensions drawings and then export to pdf.

If you could share what you want the pdf to be used for that might help find a better way of doing things.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if a post solves your issue or answers your question.

Maybe this is right in front of my face, but I cannot find export settings in inventor 2018. I'd like to export a pdf of my assembly (not a 3d pdf), but when exporting, I'm never asked about the document properties. I'd like to export the assembly at a higher resolution than whatever the default is, but I can't find the option. There isn't any prompt that opens up when saving. Inventor just saves the file with some default settings.

^^ aka there are no settings...

IF you want more control print to PDF,etc.. Note that requires a full copy of adobe acrobat or free programs like cutepdf which install such a printer on your computer..

Many of us avoid the Inventor PDF functionality as its been shown to be lacking/problematic compared to other methods to produce a PDF..

Oh wow, I just looked into the studio rendering; that's exactly what I needed. I had no idea about that feature. I was just trying to get a fairly high quality image of my part for a document. I ended up just exporting as a jpeg at the maximum number of pixels (x,y=10000). I'm going to have to play with inventor studio rendering from here on out when I need something like that. Thank you for your help!
