Hello Community?

I want to create a 3D sketch for a welding frame. To achive maximum flexibility in the process i want to create 3d points without any references or without a 3d sketch - just the coordinates and connect them later on. is this possible in inventor?

thanks in advance!

3 Non-coplanar points in space could generate a pyramid with a triangular base. With this approach you could create a solid that represents this body, and with this you could use the Frame Generator to achieve what you are looking for, without needing to have a sketch, but better yet a reference solid to anchor what you need.
In the video I show you a basic example, and at the end I show you how to create workpoints in space, these points could be part of an adaptive piece and be adaptive workpoints later, and vary randomly. I don't really understand what you're trying to achieve, so I made a descriptive video of both methods.

As a personal recommendation, I would tell you that using sketch is always reliable, just avoid using sketch3D in skeletons, it is preferable to use 2 or 3 2D sketches that are much safer to control than a 3D sketch

Best Regards!

Hi! Another option is to create a UCS. It is a user-defined coordinate system. As the origin folder, it also contains the origin point, axes and planes.

Many thanks!
