XML that stores AddIn load/unload etc Settings

Is there an XML file that stores the add-in load/unload/block settings? This would be helpful at upgrade time.

Hi Christi,

The addin control xml files are installed in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2025\Bin\Addins\ (for 2025). If those files are removed, the addins will not load.

The user-specific addin control xml files are stored in %AppData%\Autodesk\Inventor 2025\Addins (for 2025). These are overrides to the install default settings.

Hi Johnson, I looked through there and only found 1 "AddInLoadRules" but there doesn't seem like there is anything in it that is readable or editable. Like application options, I am looking for a way I can default what is loaded/unloaded for addins when we upgrade. Many things come loaded that not all users would use and we want to run lean to start. The users can then load additional things as they need them. The picture attached is what I am looking to "preset" on upgrade similar to application options.

Hi Christi,

Did you look into the Bin folder? That is where you could set right after install regardless of the users. For user specific control, you will go to %AppData%. It works on an override basis. Only the only is disabled or changed from the default behavior will have .addin files there.
