Hey Everyone! Guess what time it is...

Yup, Picture time

So, nothing abstract from me this week but still kinda "artsy"...

Was asked to prepare a logo for being lasercut, which was a bit challenging converting it from an image to an actual part.

But converting it to a vector image in Adobe Illustrator and then saving it out as .dwg so i could import it as a sketch proved a workable method.

I did my rendering in 3DS Max for the heck of it, trying out my neutral template again and having a go with the "toon" shader they added.

Might be a nice shader for those that like that "technical line-drawing" look.

The actual thing got lasercut out of sheet-metal, but luckily i'm not restricted to that color for my renders.

It was already gone for delivery before i could take a picture though...

Have a nice weekend!

I've done similar movements with Inventor Studio, but I could never end up with such a long sequence.

Normally I don't have time to participate in Friday pictures posting but always great to review what others are accomplishing in the Inventor/3DS Max community.. However since I was hosting some classes here: https://synergisu.wordpress.com/, I now have an opportunity to share a rendering on Friday picture day from the Inventor Studio class that I presented.

There's only certain things that I actually did model, so here's the credit to where I got most of the other info from

@WHolzwarth, Starting to take shape, nice!

As for improvements...

Judging by the axis icon in the lower left of your video, this is not a rendered video but more of a "screencast"

If you actually render a still of one of the jittery texture models, does it look ok?

My guess is that it's either something with overlapping planes or perhaps Normals facing in the wrong direction.

Those are probably downloaded models, maybe made with different software, so some cleanup might be required.

One other suggestion: Add an "infinitely" large ground plane to your scene, the HDR image doesn't really line up nicely, so it might be better to cover it up a bit.

Also, and i know this is a 3DS Max settings so apologies for posting it here, if you want the HDR background to be less blurry when viewing, increase the pixel size for the viewport:

(still depends on your HDR quality for how good it will look)

Hi!

Hi Niels,

You're right, it's a screencopy of a Time-line move, done with Camtasia. Rendering this would take too many percents of my remaining life ..

A single shot render shows no flickering; models are downloads. Flickering / Shinethrough is zoom-dependant. Right now I'm switching from 30 fps to 50 fps (13333 total), because of that I can't tell, if zoom-in or zoom-out gets better.

I hope for more smoothness in animation steps with the increased fps.

I'll move my problem to the 3ds Max forum later today, and show the link here.

Final comment here:

Flickering disappears with zoom-out.

Resolution is set to 2048 - 1024 -2048. Antialiasing 8X

I did this for kicks back in the day, worked pretty well.

Hmm. Pretty solids of people seem to be rare. But lots of meshes can be found.

Most of them are rigid, but some of them are biped and can be set to individual positions. See picture.

If you have access to 3ds Max, I could think of importing your Inventor files there, and placing one of these figures in it.

In Germany we say: Versuch macht kluuch (Trying is the way to go)
