Inventor Solid Body Folder Missing In Model Browser

Ok, this is a new one for me. I have a multi-body part with multiple bodies, but no "Solid Bodies" folder in the Model Browser...I can select the bodies, manipulate them just like always, but no folder where they are all listed. has anyone ever had this happen?

Inventor version and what updates have you applied to Inventor?

Does this only happen to a given part or all multi-solids that you create?

Share a screen shot including the browser of what you're seeing.

Can yo share the file so others can review it?

Hi! I have seen this kind of browser corruption before. Did you remember using any Add-In or API program or iLogic rule? Are you able to reproduce it? Did you use Derive at some point?

I apologize here, thought I had responded but apparently didn't.

Using 2017, this is the only file it's ever happened on, can't seem to re-create it, not sure on the updates, has not happened since, even when I attempt to replicate my actions...

The first pic is my original file - everything is fine here...then I did a "save as", deleted all but the first two master sketches, and modeled about 6 or 7 solid bodies before noticing there was no folder (second pic)...

Have you closed the file and restarted Inventor?

I've had browser corruption before but restarting always clears it right up..

It may be that simple...hasn't happened since...have restarted a number of times...

(LOL...no, I don't usually design houses in Inventor...this is just a side thing...)

Many thanks for sharing the model! It is a very nice house. There is nothing wrong with designing a house using Inventor, particularly for fabricated materials. Inventor has a lot to offer.

I will try to reproduce the corrupted behavior. It suspect it was probably a timing issue. The browser was not painted as it should be.

The part you attached indeed misses the "Solid Bodies" folder. It is still unclear to me how it happens. The folder is not hidden. It simply does not exist, which is very strange. Anyway, if you find a way to reproduce the behavior, please let me know asap (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com).

I have the same problem. A multi-body part I am working on - derived from another I've just modified - no longer has a solid bodies folder (I'm also getting some other curious behaviour which may or may not be related).

Restarting the computer and Inventor has not resolved the problem, nor has Rebuild-all. What next?

Interesting...sounds like something Autodesk needs to address. Pretty sure we're not the only two in the universe to run into this. I'm in 2017, you're in 2018, so it's more than just a local issue...

Yes! It's certainly frustrating me at the moment. I made a small but significant change to the base part in the full knowledge I would have to chase the change through the derived parts (as it had involved splitting one body in the base part in two). I thought I'd get that done inside 20 mins. Here I am, hours behind schedule...

And, hey, don't be embarrassed about modelling houses, sheds, whatever in Inventor, I've done the same. I've also modeled chunks of the London Underground including the correct disposition of the tapered tunnel rings required to negotiate changes in direction - and - for good measure - some bridges too, to establish precisely what lines of sight are available to a survey/monitoring instrument. It's a brilliant tool. When it works.

I never solved it. Nor has anyone else as far as I'm aware. My work around
was to derive (as multiple solid bodies) a part from the one that had no
body folder. This resulted in something I got sufficient control over to
complete the task. Far from ideal but workable...

Similar workaround. I did have one potential clue at a potential cause but doing some quick tests in a new file has so far not reproduced the problem. But here's what I do know:

When I derived the bodies into a new part file exactly half of the bodies showed up with a name that I gave them. The other half essentially had a name of "" (empty).

My workflow that got me there was a multi-body part file with forms and iLogic rules to alter dimensions as well as suppress some features that created some of the bodies.

After a few versions of development, I made a version that did a direct edit which scooted all bodies off center and then mirrored them all (creating new bodies) accross the YZ plane.

That's when I thought it broke but I can see from the autosave files it happened a few saves before that. It was however all the mirrored bodies that showed up with no name in the derive dialog box.

I do have the last autosave with a solid bodies folder and the first without

I've got one add-on. Never had any problems with it and did not use it at all for the file in question. By auto saves I'm referring to the previous versions of the file that are automatically saved over time.

I have the same issue - and would love to resolve it with this file. It has quite a checkered history so can't say what I may have done with it in the past. But I can say that if I Delete All Features Below EOF that is when the Solid Bodies folder disappears. There are quite a lot of these features. Any suggestions welcome. There's a host of stuff derived from this file so...
