Line Visibility Turned Off Reappears on PDF?

Hi,

We have an issue in our drawing office concerning the visibility of lines in PDFs. When the visibility of certain lines is turned off on a drawing, generally on a shaded isometric view, some of them reappear when a PDF is created. Anyone else experienced this? Anyone know of a solution/ work around?

It would help if you provided what version of Inventor you're using along with any updates that you have applied. In addition does this impact all drawings or only certain ones. Also what workflow are you using to create your PDFs?

Do you have an adobe pdf printer installed on your system?

If so simply print to pdf and stop using Autodesks stuff.. Its typically problematic..

Download cutepdf and use that..

Hi Mark,

We are using Inventor Professional 2018.2

The line visibility returning only happens on certain drawings... and only certain lines in a drawing, so some lines that have had the visibility turned of, stay off, and some reappear. It tends to be on the shaded isometric views where the visibility of lines reappears.

The draughtsman in question has tried both Ctrl P and export to create the PDF, with the same result.

What if they print to a regular printer and not printing to a PDF driver? Does the same issue happen..?

Hi mcgyvr,

The draughtsman used Ctrl P & CutePDF to create the PDF and it showed the lines that had been turned off. He has just tried it again, and the lines remained turned off, so not sure what is going on. The visibility of these lines is only cosmetic, so its not a major issue. Maybe I should get the draughtsmen to use presentation files for sending realistic visualisations to the clients.

Yes, the lines also appeared on the printed copy.

So now its consistently working?

If so...I'd just chalk this up to an operator issue/oops.. and move on..

Issues that can't be duplicated are basically impossible to troubleshoot/fix and its not worth your time even trying to determine the cause or troubleshoot it..

Thats identical to export PDF isn't it?

If so they said they had the same problem there...

As this issue happens to paper printed drawings too the problem does not seem to be only PDF related anymore..
