Hi! I believe the behavior is controlled by an option in Tools -> Document Settings -> Drawing -> Cross Hatch Clipping. Uncheck the option and drag the view a bit. You should be able to see the portion unblocked.

Many thanks!

not sure why but when I put a note on a drawing sometimes, based on the size of the note block it can cause portions of my drawing to "go away". not sure why. I may not be making it clear on what exactly is go on so please take a look at the picture. it's like the text has an imaginary block around the text and whatever is behind it gets blocked out.

I have certainly seen that in the past..

I'm not sure if Autodesk has fixed that and its just "legacy" created text boxes that still show the problem or what..

I can't duplicate it with Inventor now but have seen it many times in the past..

It happens on brand new inventor drawings for me. make a simple drawing with some dimensions on it. Then add some text. Then move the text so that the green dots are over the dimensions. Once you place them there it should make the dim's go away.

See Johnsons reply above..

Thats whats doing it..

I forgot that the cross hatch clipping setting is what controls if text obscures linework or not..

I've had this issue on occasion for a long time as well, but I just found a better solution than turning off "Cross Hatch Clipping" in the Document Settings for the whole drawing. Put the Note text box into a Sketch Symbol (per the folder at the top of the folder tree under Title Blocks and Borders". You may find that just having your Notes text within the Sketch Symbol solves the issue, but if not, you can also right-click on the symbol (after placing on the drawing) and click "Edit Symbol" and un-tick "Symbol Clipping".

This is an item-specific way to control clipping, which might be desirable because if you have other items on your drawing such as dimensions or callouts that sit over hatching you may not want to turn off the clipping of hatching around text in those dimensions/notes.

See the following screenshot from https://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2023/ENU/?guid=GUID-D9D9FB20-8042-48A9-9CAB-5D7ABDD09175 for a bit more context on this topic.

Hope others find this helpful.
