OK, so I'm going to be lazy as I've had a quick look and I can't find it. Are Nyloc nuts available in content center under a different name?

Cheers,

Hi Simon,

Yes, if you search for "prevailing torque" you should see the different types or locking hex nuts.

Truthfully, never got my Nyloks from the CC. Always went to McMaster-Carr and down loaded the model from there.

I don't normally use McMaster hardware because they model the threads. Not helpful in large assemblies. They don't have iparts for download that I can find, which makes it difficult to change fasteners during the design phase.

I got most of my hardware as iparts from Charlie Bliss's web site, here: http://www.cbliss.com/inventor/Parts/Fasteners/index.htm

Thanks for the info, although the parts won't be of much use to me as they're imperial, but the other areas of that site may well be.

Just piling on, here...

From Wikipedia: "Nyloc" is a registered trade name of Forest Fasteners.[2] In Australia "Nyloc" is a registered trade mark of Exafast Pty Ltd.

Just as with BAND-AID®, Kleenex® and many other items, the trade name of the first or biggest product may end up being used to refer to the entire class of products, but technically/legally it's not correct.

DIN EN ISO 10511, 10512, and 7040 are plastic-insert prevailing torque nuts (aka Nyloc).
