Inventor Content Center Nyloc Hex Nuts Available Under Different Name?

OK, so I'm going to be lazy as I've had a quick look and I can't find it. Are Nyloc nuts available in content center under a different name?

Yes, if you search for "prevailing torque" you should see the different types or locking hex nuts.

Truthfully, never got my Nyloks from the CC. Always went to McMaster-Carr and down loaded the model from there.

I don't normally use McMaster hardware because they model the threads. Not helpful in large assemblies. They don't have iparts for download that I can find, which makes it difficult to change fasteners during the design phase.

I got most of my hardware as iparts from Charlie Bliss's web site, here: http://www.cbliss.com/inventor/Parts/Fasteners/index.htm

From Wikipedia: "Nyloc" is a registered trade name of Forest Fasteners.^[2] In Australia "Nyloc" is a registered trade mark of Exafast Pty Ltd.

Just as with BAND-AID®, Kleenex® and many other items, the trade name of the first or biggest product may end up being used to refer to the entire class of products, but technically/legally it's not correct.

Thanks for pointing that out Sam, I was aware of that but for the purposes of asking a question on a forum I thought it would be OK to use a term that is popular and well known. Hope the lawyers stay off my back.

I hope so, too! Just pointing out why you wouldn't find them listed in the Content Center by trade name (even though under Sheet Metal > Nuts you will find nothing but PEM® brand swage nuts...).

You may need to open the ipart factory file and drag the End-of-Part Marker to the end of the browser to make sure the geometry is computed before your first use.

DIN EN ISO 10511, 10512, and 7040 are plastic-insert prevailing torque nuts (aka Nyloc).

ANSI also has a metric version, with both all-metal and plastic-insert types:
