Write your message again, and this time include enough information for anyone to take an intelligent stab at your question!

Since this is the Inventor forum, I'm assuming that you are wondering about making this shape using Inventor, but no idea what your end product is supposed to be.

You included an image—that's all. Well, Inventor does some things very well, but making images is not its primary purpose, and you already have one of those, so I suppose you're wanting to create something other than an image.

Imagine yourself as someone reading this for the first time; then see if you can communicate effectively to such a person (who also might not be a native English speaker).

As you can see in the attached image. I have 2 image references of the shape i am trying to build. And at the bottom is the current state my shape is at. My question is, how do I go about creating all the curvatures that blend nicely with that shape and also add the insets...basically all the detail that the real object has.

Hello @Anonymous,

This would be a long thread if talking step by step. It sounds like a kind of reverse engineering based on images.

Please create sketch and insert images to help draw the shape and leverage command to do material subtraction, it's easy to say but a long learning curve for you.

By the way, it does not look complex to me.

Hope it helps!

Hello @Anonymous I see that you are visiting as a new member to the Inventor Forum.
Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

It looks like you have the basic outer profile created which is a good start, now you have to work on removing material and defining your indentations. There are many ways to do this, based on your image using angled planes, extrusions, possibly emboss or loft cuts might get you closer.

If you want to attach what you have accomplished so far so forum experts can comment on further that would be helpful.

Get all the important features on the part first. Then you can decide if you need all the undercuts and weight reduction. Some of those features are there for casting. If you are milling the part, you don't need them. You can look into weight reduction after you have model of a working part.
