Error Trim/Extend with Frame Members

I'm currently working on a project where I have multiple Frame members (L50x50x4) parralel to a plate and they partly stick inside the plate. I wanted to trim them to the face of the plate, yet Inventor trows me an error stating:

[WARNING] Trim - Extend To Face: Problems encountered while executing Trim - Extend To Face end treatment.
[WARNING] Errors occurred during edit of Frame member DIN L50x50x4 00000001.ipt
[ERROR] Could not produce an end treatment: The trim face (plane) appears to be parallel to frame member.

So it seems I can only use trimmable faces that are perpendiculair to the frame members to trim or extend them.

Are there any other ways to achieve what I want to accomplish? I was thinking of adjusting the sketches of the frame members themselves (only 4 frame members) to trim them to the plate, but perhaps you people have a better or easier solution?

I need to shorten one of the flanges of the frame members not the length.

I always used the tools within the frame generator. Not the trim/extend.

Non of these apply to my situation. I dont need to apply an End-Treatment in this situation.

They do apply. You said you need to shorten the members. There is a shorten command in the FG toolbar.

@Cadmanto provided the solution to you.. Its called "notching" if I understand what you're trying to accomplish..

Or perhaps just show us an image of what you're trying to do so we are not second guessing what you're looking for.

Here's the .STP file of what I'm trying to accomplish.

The door is a plate of 5MM and the frame members are L50x50x4, the flanges of the L50x50x4 are 5mm inserted into the plate.

I wanted to shorten one side of the FLANGES of the frame members and not the actual length of the frame members, but it trew me the error above. I currently solved it, by editing the 4 frame members base sketches so that the FLANGES are shorter.

Hi! The error usually comes up when Inventor has trouble cutting the frame. Either the treatment does not apply to the proper member or the geometry has some problems. Could you share what you have here?
