Edit Component in Assembly Transparency

I used to edit a part within an assembly and Inventor would make all the inactive components transparent. That's stopped working all of a sudden, all other components are fully visible.

I've not made any changes to me settings (Application Options > Display > Inactive Component Appearance > 30% opaque)

I tried playing around with this % value but it doesn't make any difference to the opacity of inactive components, they are full opacity no matter what I choose.

I'm on Inventor (Build 284, Release 2018.3.1)

Did you try to update graphics driver and run the Inventor Reset Utility?

Close Inventor and restart it.

Can you set the transparancty on/off? Can you de/increase the transparency?

Yes, you can turn ON/OFF with application option below.

Currently, you can set the transparency percentage via below setting.

If I am in that editing environment..., and want to measure something, I don't want the inactive parts to be selectable. is that possible?

Try the Isolate command in the context menu which can help you out.

Hi! To exclude the inactive components, you will need to disable them. Here is a workflow I would recommend.

1) In the top-level assembly, activate Design View: Master.

2) Edit the component in-place. Select the near by inactive components -> right-click -> uncheck Enable. Now, they no longer participate in selection.

When you return back top and activate a different Design View, the Enable status will be reverted.

You could skip step1 but it will alter the active non-Master Design View.
