How do I draw this equation in an Inventor Sketch?

Hi,

I've tried googleling around, without any solutions. i would like to draw the following function in Inventor:

(X^2/(4)^2)+(Y^2/(1)^2)=1

According to WolframAlpha it should look like this:

I've tried equation curve. But how should I alternate the formula to display what i need?

Good question.

I tried the explicit formula, but the result was looking strange (straight line).

The parametric way showed better, but could not be mirrored vs the X-axis (Inventor 2016).

A polar array (2 members) was possible instead.

Hi,

Your equation is an ellipse so simplest would be just to use ellipse tool.

Hi Guys,

This can be done easily using Equation Driven Curve. Here is what you need to do.

x(t) = 4*sin(t)

y(t) = cos(t)

tmin = 0 and tmax = 360

Please note that the default angular dimension in Inventor template is degree, not radian. If it has been set to radian, tmin and tmax will need to be changed accordingly.
