Custom threaded hole note

I have created a drilled and tapped M4 threaded hole. I have called out the thread but now want to add further information to the thread note. The thread was called out using the 'Hole and Thread'. I want to now add the tapping drill depth and the threaded hole depth.

At previous companies I've worked at I would then double click on the threaded hole note and from drop down and icons I would add the required information (intelligently, not just typed in text). I can't seem to get this working now. Any help topics have so far proved unhelpful. Can someone please give me a point in the right direction.

All you have to do is go into your drawings styles (Mange/Styles Editor) and do the following

Also you really want to do this in your drawing template for future drawings.

I have done the above but it will not make the actual change to the already created thru hole callout.

Can you post the file (and associated part)? What version of Inventor are you using?

One of the hardest things about doing what you desire is pinpointing the exact style to change. If you do, the call out in the drawing will update. Take a look at my screencast and notice even as I use the right click command "Edit Dimension Style..." it does not go to the exact entry I need to update. I must scroll down the list to find the type of hole and am in need of editing.

I have gone through every style type but nothing has updated.

At a previous employer, this was not an issue, you simply right clicked and edited the note as desired. Not sure why this is a problem.

I have Inventor 2018, against 2014 at the previous employer.

If you double click the hole dimension in the drawing the options are all there in the hole dialogue box, see attached pdf.

Yes but when I add my custom notes the original note doesn't update.

I will try to add a file and hopefully anyone that opens this up will see the issue. If not then its a setting in template that needs changed. I just can't figure out what that is.

I'm not following what you're saying here. Are you trying to change the style that applies to all such notes, or just this one note? I tried editing the hole note on your attached drawing, and it was simple, just as @NigelHay showed in his post, though I had to first uncheck the "Use Default" checkbox:

If, instead, you're trying to change the style for all such holes, then you need to make the change in the Style Editor in this document (Blind - Depth Thread is the note format for this particular hole), save it to the Styles Library (project must first be temporarily set to Read/Write), then open your template(s) and update it from the Styles Library.

I am only wanting to change one thread call out on a particular drawing. I created the attached model for illustration only.

When I try to change the thread as you have it will not change. Obviously something happening to my files.

Can you attach my drawing and model that you have updated and I will see if the changes you made carry through.

SORTED!

The original part was created by a.n.other. The threaded hole was created by revolving a feature and applying a thread.

When I created the test part I created the threaded hole as I normally would, using the hole feature. However as double clicking the thread note didn't work on the original file, I was right clicking and editing the note style in the test part (and this didn't work)

So, I can only edit the thread text if I create the hole and thread using the hole feature (as I would expect).

Problem was, I didn't look at how the hole was originally created.
