Can't thicken surface, why?

Hi all

I would like to thicken this Surface quilt by 1mm, but this is somehow not possible.

Can anyone explain me why, I don't get it.

Hi,

See attached for fix. There are issues with the surface you have created in the are shown in the image attached. This was causing the failure. I recreated the surface as one using boundary to resolve issue.

Hi! The Thicken is having difficulty probably due to the complexity of the boundary surfaces and the edges. But, I am wondering why you need to recreate the surfaces while you already have them. Please take a look at the attached part. I used the derived surface as the base, and created a zero-offset surface on top of it. Then I can trim off unwanted portions. Delete Face command can help you remove unneeded faces. Would it be a better workflow?

Well, since I have no CAD Background at all, but I am the one doing all the technical drawings for our projects, I struggle mostly to find the correct workflow to do what I have to in Inventor.
