Cone flat pattern

Hi guys, so we are working with Aluminum 3003 H-14, and I am trying to get Inventor to create a flat pattern for a cone, but I am having problems getting it to calculate the correct flat pattern from the folded model. Would this be a material type issue or would this be a sheet metal bend rule issue? I am a little unsure of how to track this down to get it to work properly. Any advice is appreciated. thanks

Change k-factor until you get correct flat.

It depends on how the cone is formed and material.

Are you rolling or bumping the cone?

We are rolling it, when I create this flat pattern both the material and K-factor will affect the outcome right?

For rolling, start with k=0.5.

Adjust with test.

You'll need extra material on both end to roll and cut to size after.

thanks, how important is it that my material properties are perfect? I was trying to input them but I am not entirely sure I got them correct as I had to do several unit conversions to get it to the units that Inventor uses

Material in CAD doesn't matter.

Material used in rolling will change k-factor. Hardness, strength, temperature will affect how the material compress and stretch. Usually not much but it depends on how accurate you need.

Then, it's not machining. So within 1/16" is enough.
