Inventor 2019: How to create different representations

Working with Inventor 2019. Got a assembly project that has two different customer parts in it and the machine will need to be position in different spots for the parts. Is there a way to show this in inventor. Have one view show the smaller part and the machine position for it and another view to show larger part and the machine position for that one?

ositins, HI!

If i am understanding what you want to do... yes , is possible.

Just create several View Representation showing the views you need to show.

To maintain things in place, you just have to Lock the views. After Locked, Even if you change the view position, everytime you get off and get in again, the view position will be the same as in the time you locked the view Rep.

So I can do a view one to show the smaller part and a position 1 to show small part location, Do a view two to show the large part and a position two to show large part location, that have view locks and be able to click on view one and it will show both view one and position one?

Put both parts into the assembly in their proper position...

Copy default to create a new view rep called "small", activate it and turn off the visibility of the large part.. Save..

Copy default to create a new view rep called "large", activate it and turn off the visibility of the small part.. Save

Lock both views if you don't want any future changes to effect those..

If thats not what you want we will need more details

Can you save positions representations in the different views? I just would like to do a position that works with a view if it can be done.

Well, the view representations and the positional representations are independent, but in the end, if you create the 2 views representations and the 2 positional representations, you can select mannually the respective combination.

Out of the box there's no option to do that automatically.

I believe that can be donne with iLogic, but for that you have to know some programing skils

In short View rep control part visibility: parts are visible or not.

Put parts in both locations and turn it on in one rep and off in another.

If you really want to move the part, you'll need Positional Rep.

It can control mates: on/off and dimension.

You'll need to mate the part to one location, suppress the mates.

Add mates for next location. Then use Pos Rep to suppress/unsuppress.

I will have to do couple views than also couple positional to make it work. I was just hoping I could control both with one, but it is what it is. No big deal. Thanks for the help.

You can also look into iPart and iAssembly.
