I created a custom template and needed to add some more custom iProperties to it. i tried opening it and adding them but it didn't save them in the template.

I can't remember if saving the assembly template modifications is the same as the drawing template modifications but, have you tried using the "Save" command on the Styles Editor (Under the Manage Tab) and then saving the document?

I haven't tied that yet attempted to just save as template and overwrite the existing one but it wouldn't let me so i deleted it and created another template and right after i saved the new one i realized i left 1 custom iProperty out and would rather not have to go back in and do that all over again.

Hello,

What are the specific iproperties that you're changing?

If you're opening the template properly (not just starting a new document from the template) it should retain most of the iProperties upon saving. The only ones I've noticed that get wiped are the Part Number and the Designer fields when a new document is created from it.

Also, are you the sole user or are your templates stored on a server and used by multiple people?

Im the sole user for my program its all saved to my pc. What is the correct way to open it i might be doing that wrong, i go to my file explorer and find its folder and open it.

I create an Inventor Project file that I can switch to quickly in order to make the templates available for edit and also the Design Data (Styles) to the Read-Write. This project file is placed in the same folder as my working templates so you know you are opening the template correctly to make changes. Don't forget to flip back to your production project file when finished.
