Using inventor 2019 and the mate constraint reverted back to the prior way of doing it. Has anyone had this just happen ?

Yes, this was a change included with Inventor 2019.2 Upgrade. You can read about it and further discussion in this forum thread.

No it is still broke

If it reverted back it would work.

Before, the Axial Mate Constraint defaulted to opposed or aligned instead of defaulting to undirected. Now, when Inventor is started it will default to undirected, and if it's changed to another option that's what will be used the next time you open the constraint window. As you see in that forum @jhackney1972 posted, the Inventor Team is already aware of users wanting to turn that Remember Last option off if they don't want it and we'll get that in either a hot-fix or the next quarterly update.
