CATIA problems

Hi all,

I'm new of the forum and it's my first time with inventor.

I've created different elements with CATIA V5 that has some rules written in VBA language. Now i need to import/open them in Inventor. I've been able to do so but even if the geometry of the element is ok all the VBA rules seem to be lost in Inventor. Is it possible or I'm not able to find them?

Not (automatically) possible.

You will have to remodel (or perhaps use Feature Recognition) and then use iFeatures/illogic.

Sorry for my ignorance... with "or perhaps use Feature Recognition" what do you mean?

Is there a guide in wich I can learn how to do so? I want to try this way in order to avoid remodelling (if possible).

I recommend that you practice creating your own native iFeatures/iParts/iLogic from scratch before attempting to convert imported geometry so that you are comfortable with the process.

Hi,

I've downloaded Feature recognition but I can't see it in the multifunction bar even if I see that the function in uploaded in the additional modules manager.

Post a screenshot of what you see when you right click on the Base feature.

I've been able to solve the problem (Feature Recognition wasn't upload as well).

Now I've tried to use it but it doesn't solve my first problem... Even if there are rules, parameters and rules written in VBA language in the CATIA element I can't import this things in Inventor.

Is there any other piece of advice that you can give me to import this rules? May I import an xml file with VBA rules and, in this case, how this xml file should be (there are some examples/guide that I can read about this?).

Are you wanting to use rules written in VBA for CATIA and execute them with Inventor?

I don't program, but this might be a stretch. I suspect that the CATIA VBA commands may have similar-in-function commands to the Inventor VBA, but that there is not a direct translation between the two environments. Inventor's AnyCAD functionality may be limited to geometry and may not extract material assignments, custom code, or parameters from the source CAD system.

You may have to re-write the CATIA VBA programs into the Inventor VBA dialect.
