sweep command

Im trying to sweep a sketch to make a piece of wire mesh rolled up to fit inside a pipe and having problems completing it not sure of the error.

There are at least 2 better techniques* to use for this, but Sweep should also work.

Can you Attach the *.ipt file here>

*Contoured Flange or Coil.

Are you sure the sweep doesnt self intersect as it looks awfully tight between coils?

It looks like it's selecting the path along with the profile.

As JD posted, attached the offending file for us to look at.

Awesome i will try the other methods i havent used them yet still learning the software. I drew the coil in autocad the imported it and translated it and projected the geometry so i could use the end point as a reference.

Hi! Could you share the file here? It looks like the profile is not perpendicular to the start of the spiral path.

Hi! Sorry I missed the files! I took a quick look. The failure is about the profile sketch plane not being at the start of the spiral path. I created a new workplane and redefined the profile sketch. It works fine. Please take a look.

Hi! I was literally doing exactly like I described earlier. I open the part and create a normal to path at point workplane. Then reorder the profile sketch to the bottom in the browser. Right-click on the sketch -> Redefine -> select the workplane. Sweep will work.

Is there any way you could create a screen-cast of you doing that I'm trying to make mine work like that for future times and cant get it to work on mine, i think i have a idea what your talking about in your steps.

Heres what I have come up with. You can define your spiral by using the Parameter ID and adjust the Pitch to get your spiral spacing.

It's nice seeing parts from others perspectives, I forgot about the coil though it performs very much like a sweep when configured.
