Placing X_T files into Inventor

I have received .x_t files and I want to know how to correctly place it and turn it into a part file.

Do I need some type of converter like a Parasolid?

I am in an assembly file......in the middle of "Placing Imported CAD Files". I can see the status bar at 95%, and it's gradually placing .ipt files in the folder I created for it.

Obviously, I am doing something wrong. Must be a simpler way

Hi!

Just "Open", change the extension from (.ipt, .iam, .idw.... etc etc) to x_t and the translation begins.

Save the part and the new ipt p+art will have the same name as the x_t file, but in ipt version.

Later you can place it in assemblies, like any other part.

It is already an x_t file

It opens in notepad. I save it as an ipt and it errors on me. Will not open

Start Inventor

File>Open

Files of type *.* (all types)

Select the file to Open

Save

Now you have an Inventor File.

Hi! Do you mind taking a snapshot of file filter in Open dialog you are seeing? "x_t" should be listed right below "x_b" for Parasolid files.

Im trying to open a .x_t file into Inventor the file is over 300 mbs Its causing the program to not respond and i need this file for a school project is there any solution?

@Anonymous What version of Inventor are you using? If someone manages to open the file and saves it as an Inventor file, it would be nice if you could open it...

When Inventor is busy working on something, Windows reports that Inventor is not responding. That doesn't mean that nothing is happening, though. Sometimes it's a long wait.

Update: my very old desktop computer (i3 3.3GHz CPU, 8 GB RAM, old consumer Radeon graphics) opened this file and saved it in Inventor 2019. Looks like an interesting assembly!

Idk what version of inventor because its in my highschool engineering class but we are making autamata boxes and i need the sisyphus lego character so i can 3D print him at school if you could share the inventor file with me it would mean alot to me, thank you for all the support as well,

Before I spend the time and bandwidth to upload the file, find out what version of Inventor your school is using. If it's 2018 or earlier, you won't be able to open my 2019 file.

wow! it handles CATIA V4 model files. Since V4 was setup where you could model single parts and overlay them into a session (and save the session as a file if you liked).....OR you could model multiple solids in a single file. I wonder if Inventor will turn them into an assembly or a multibody part file. I know places with tons of legacy V4 data who will invariably be working with vendors who have Inventor.

V5 behaves just like Inventor.
